The Higher School of Economics and the University of Texas (USA) have recently been working on an agreement on cooperation in public administration. Alexey Barabashev, Dean of the HSE Faculty of Public Administration, told us about this process, as well as the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM) Conference which took place in Washington.

On August 1 st at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, the XI International summer research school Baltic Practice began. This is an annual event organized by the HSE Department of Public Policy. Nina Belyaeva, Academic Supervisor of the school and Head of the Department of Public Policy, told us about the schedule of the practice and the new areas of research which are being carried out as part of it.

On June 28th and 29th an international academic conference ‘Improving the Effectiveness of Public Services’ will take place at the HSE. The co-organizer of the conference is the international Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM) which is holding its annual external conference in Russia for the first time. Alexey Barabashev, Dean of the HSE Faculty of Public Administration, spoke to us about the conference.

On June 2 nd the double degree master’s programme of the HSE Faculty of Public Administration and the London Metropolitan University Department of Law, Governance and International Relations was validated. Elena Guseletova, Head of this project and Head of the HSE International Educational and Research Center of Public Administration Department of International Cooperation, told us about this process and the new programme.

On March 14 th students, teachers and staff of the HSE met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Uri Rosenthal. The lecture was addressed primarily to the students and was broadcast to all HSE regional branches. Thanks to video conference facilities, HSE students from Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm had the opportunity not only to watch and listen to the speech, but also to ask questions to the minister after the lecture.
